I am thankful to all members for electing me as a President 2017. I struggled hard and survived many legal battles in various courts in the country and took charge of President ASI 2017 at ASICON 76 at Mysuru.Truth prevailed .It gave me more streangth and determination to work hard to uplift ASI image and its activities to greater height with cooperation of all of you. Problem is of self Ego and narrow vision to restrict ASI within a caucaus group to rule for years. Constitution of ASI is supreme.Every one has to work under its provisions truthfully and transperantly to work for the cause of ASI.Every elected members on various positions has to follow his assigned duties and work as a unit to deliver good to its members. I promise to abide by my duties as per constitution and fulfill all my responsibilities to streangthen ASI and take academic and other activities to newer height as per expectations of Members.
Few days back a Surgeon was murdered in Allahabad in his chamber by unknown assailants.Similar such assaults on Doctors is becoming more common now. It needs some thinking and action unitedly with IMA and other Surgical Association to press our demands and get justice from Central and Stat Governments. Inspite of Doctors protection act its poor impementation is not giving any respite to Doctors.
ASI is an vibrant organisation with State Chapters in every State of the country and every surgical subspeciality doing academic work of high quality and be in close contact with public to promote various health related programmes of Government to improve health of every one including Child, Mother and Elders. Each State should organise atleast one Mega Surgical Camp for common surgical disorders like inborn child defects,disabilities ,Cancer awerness etc and perform free operations wherever required .Every Surgeon is doing lots of free procedures but not been reported.As a part of our obligation to society and legal responsibility at least do one operation a year free and report to ASI office with details for information to Government.
More then One Lakhs Surgeons are working in the Country but only about twenty thousands are the members.Many Surgeons in your neighbour hood and in your city are your friends and attending activities by city surgical associations. One ASI Member to enrol one Surgeon to make our strength double to 40 thousands is my dream. I have high hope on my fellow members and will do it .
ASI is doing many academic activities along with State Chapters and Speciality sections round the years It is helping our newer generation colleagues to update knowledge and sharpen their skill.ASI will be identifying high volume centers in various specialities.
