Wish you all members of G.C., a very positive, fruitful and innovative period ahead. Let these 3 years be a golden part of your life and feel proud to be associated with A.S.I. Most of the members must be member of ASI more than 20 years and attended ASICON and participated in its activities at National and State Levels in various capacities. Many ideas and thoughts must have come to give some better shape and bring new ideas to make these Conference and Workshop more meaningful. Time has come. You are in this body which crafts the working of the Association and guide the destiny of the members at various levels. You are a successful Surgeon and have come a long way to this platform with some thoughts and vision.
Let every thing in you, come out with positivity and be a part of the discussion to bring out some thing glorious and new with future in mind. Time always flies fast. Let that may not be the case. I have been in G.C. now for more than 12 years. 6 years as elected G.C. member and last 6 years as observer only as Editor of I.J.S.. All very talented leaders as President and Vibrant G.C. members.
Each one has his own quality and zeal to work for the Association, but ultimate result and each ones contribution, is what it counts at last. Prepare yourself well for G.C. meeting. Read the available literature and proceedings carefully, make your notes and take part in discussion with open mind and clear thoughts. If you need any information, please get it from office before hand or during the period and help in running the meeting systematically. Listening is more important than talking.
Disciplined meeting with positive deliberations give fruitful results with better understanding among members. President is our Leader and has given his views in his message in I.J.S., in his Thanks giving speech in last ASICON and through communication to you. Strengthen his hands and contribute to follow his mandate to fulfill his ideas in time. Healthy criticism is always helpful and promotes new ideas and vigour to implement with force in time. Your actions are seen by all ASI members. You are their Idol and looking towards you to come to their expectations and desire. What it is? It is writing on a wall – A CHANGE FOR THE FUTURE.
Do not you find a vibrant India? Economy is booming. I.T. and other financial sectors all over the world are looking towards India. We play an important role with the help of new generation CEO’s of new age group. Corporate hospitals have brought medical care to our country as good as anywhere but limited to few cities only. How the rest of the country of more than 80% doing with health care? What our politician’s vision for future is? How we as Scientist and Leader of our Profession doing any comprehensive, coordinated efforts to improve systems to reach the goal to improve health to our wast population? Probably not. We need to change first our ATTITUDE and BEHAVIOUR by asking ourselves. What I can do? What is my social responsibility? Can I do something? You have answers of all, because you treat politicians and bureaucrats both who master health destiny. It is lack of composite efforts jointly, fail our mission. Individually we are very strong but collectively poor. Clash of Ego and self portratism, take our step backward. I have great hopes in all of you to come together and hold each other hands and vouch to forget personal differences, and ambition temporarily to strengthen, our President hands and Association to take one further step ahead to brighten the future with visible changes as seen in eyes of young Surgeons. It needs change in our thinking, attitude and behaviours. Give lot of thinking, considering various aspects right from G.C. meeting to ASICON, a socio academic MELA of Surgeons to different Workshops and Seminar. Is Commercialization and Market forces taking our privilege to some other direction? We have to answer many questions and guide the coming generation.
Change is inevitable. Be a part of the change ourselves and write history or go in oblivion. You have to decide. Prepare yourselves with positive mind and act without wasting time.
You must have more ideas for the future. Bring it out and give new vision to coming generation. My ideas may not appeal but will divert your mind to think about it. That is my job. Once you think, than only will act.
