I wish all the members of the ASI, a very HAPPY, PROSPEROUS and PURPOSEFUL-2014. Our founder members had a long vision of the future of the Country and Surgeons role and responsibility in helping the Nation to become healthy to move forward and be strong to keep head up among all. They prepared a Charter of ASI and its Constitution to guide us together with feeling of fellowship, to learn, and in turn serve people to our best abilities. They also stressed our mission of social responsibilities to use our skill to build a healthy nation. 75 years have seen all ups and down, from Independent India to a growing nation of 5th largest economy, among top 6 Nuclear power and industrialized nation in the world. Being a democratic country, the pace of progress takes unprecedented path but we are progressing and feel proud of ourselves and legacy of our forefathers. ASI also has gone a turbulent period in last 4 years, unexpectedly, a phase all organization face but solved with positive attitude and wisdom to act with faith and feeling of reconciliation.
Doctors have a great respect in society and considered next to God. Surgeon among all is a creator beside healer. Be proud of yourself and respect you enjoy in the society. Do not betray this success with Ego. Do not let this come in your way to enjoy this prestigious position with love and social affection. As we grow, so also our sphere of work and fame to become stronger in the society. Collectively we fail to deliver because of many reasons. As an Association, we enjoy reputation among ourselves, and not even among other speciality brothers. While other organizations, professional and otherwise enjoy power and influence in our political and social system, we remain secluded. We have no answer as we care ourselves individually but never let the society feel our other capabilities with social obligations and responsibility. Change our attitude and vision to look after a common Indian who needs us.
Let Workshops, CME’s teaching programme be not limited to ASICON, take it to the peripheral centres to educate our colleagues working in all odd circumstances and not able to attend ASICON at far distances. This is the country full of talents at all levels. Let us go to them to upgrade their knowledge.
Hyderabad is a historical town and now a large metropolitan town with large number of high grade academic Institutions, many science and pharmaceutical research centres, IT hug and largest number of Multi speciality Corporate Hospitals, Vibrant City with Vibrant people. Culture is a mixture of North and South with enlighten people. Organising Committee consists of young energetic, devoted and determined members and proved time and again their worth. I have no doubt this ASICON will be a memorable one with distinct different landmark to surpass every one.
Let us give your input of your past ASICON experiences of many years, and give suggestions to improve it. It is a collective responsibility to shine together to spread the wings of solace to give shelter of happiness.
