Modern Medicine in Indore was started in 1937 by Dr. J. Bruce and later in 1948 Dr. E. Impey started Medical dispensary. KEH Medical School was founded in 1878 by Dr. Beaumant with the help of Dr. Ganpat Singh Bias and Dewan Bahadur Raghunath Rao. It was first Medical institution in Central Indian and eight in India known for new technique of lithotrite, plastic surgical procedure for cut nose and hair lip and cataract surgery. In 1948, the school was converted to MGM Medical College with Dr. B.C. Bose as its first Principal. College and M.Y. Hospital were designed and constructed by Hungarian Architect Mr. Heinz at the cost of Rs. 18 lacs and Rs. 66 lacs respectively. H.H. Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar gave land and Rs. 35 lacs for the project.
M.G.M. Medical College and M.Y. Hospital is a premier Institution in Central India with patients coming from neighbouring states. Its faculties like – Dr. S.K. Mukerjee, Dr. B.B. Ohri, Dr. Pohowalla, Dr. Dhanda and Dr. Jungalwalla were renowned for their ethical and high clinical and academic work.
KEMSOL – representing K.E.H. Medical School has been working for a long under President Dr. G.C. Sepaha and Secretary Dr. A.P. Tiwari. In 1955 Alumni Association of KEH Medical School and M.G.M. medical College was formed – Principal Dr. B.C. Bose being its first President

(7) Since then many GB and EB meetings held to revive and make it active. In 2007 GB decided to form an ad hoc body of eight members and enroll members to enlarge its scope accommodating Alumni from various batches.
Financial Status – Fixed Deposits in State Bank of India, M.Y.H. Branch – more than Rs. 10 lac and S.B. account of about Rs. 4200/-.
Let us involve active members from each batch and form active group. Call a meeting of such active members to chart out basic structure of its future regarding office bearers, life term fees and short and long term activities.
Important Activities –
Organized many activities in last 40 years, Prominent being
(1) Centenary function – 18-19th December 1978 Chief Guest His Excellency President of India Shri N. Sanjiva Reddy, Inaugurated Centenary Memorial structure.
(2) Felicitation of old Teachers and laying of foundation of Alumni Building of KEH Medical School and MGM Medical College by His Excellency President of India Shri Gyani Zail Singh on 25th May 1986
(3) Golden Jubilee Celebration of M.G.M. Medical College 18th-20th Dec. 1998
(4) Felicitation of Dr. B.C. Chhaparwal on being appointed as Vice Chancellor, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore 2nd October 1996.
(5) 125th year of Medical Education KEM and MGM Medical College Indore, October 2003.
