I highly appreciate the meeting related to ENVISIONING CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS was held recently by Lion Leaders involving core leaders of all multiple of ISAAME area. It is a proud feeling for all of us to be associated with LCI completing 100 years. It is a proud privilege to be a member of LCI.
Membership/Leadership programme have been taken earnestly for more than two decades but no change in activities at grass root level, of same perpetual nature as has been planned since decades. Much has been thought, planned and executed regarding the both aspect but not much impact. It needs a thorough retrospection, auditing of our working with results to improve, and actions as per demand is to be considered. My few observations are below which may be critical but true. Please take this in a positive way as the Centennial Celebrations needs on a high scale with positive result to involve every aspect of society to put LCI in a high position.
Lions Club International – High Image of service organization but no relative image for social activities as many more such activities are done by many associations and organizations in this Country.
Projects and other activities done by LCI in last 100 years should be published as a white paper to enlighten the members and the society in particular. It is an image making purpose and to give a true picture of LCI to the public. We lack in a good public relation projection.
Eye activities except for Lion Eye Hospital are mostly done with the help of Govt. projects.
Analysis of impact of LCI in Society and Nation for improving people, mind set, financial help, teaching programme, food, medicine etc.
It is astonishing that more than 65 years of LCI in India – has not changed from few perpetual activities as in President programme, with minor changes here and there. Few good centres of very high nature in education and health have come up but limited considering the vastness of the country.
World has changed. Needs are different, requirements have taken a turn, and young generation vision is different with regard to service. But LCI has not changed.
Sir, My Lion Leaders please search ourselves, have we made any impact with our efforts among a common Lion Members, who is either disgusted or docile to these calls.
Programmes to suit society as per time and region is the demand. Past is exhilarating, glorious suited to the demand of time during World War 1 and World War 2 period. Since then developing countries have come up a hard way and is a changed society of high nation outlook. They look forward to give them a time related directions with proper vision, which satisfy them and put more hunger to serve society.
Have we at all able to enroll young entrepreneur’s, able academicians, Doctors of eminence, Engineers and Businessmen who are doing tremendous job to bring India at the top? Answer is NO.
Please do not discuss on your agenda and give direction to develop a new image of LCI, but make desire and demand of new generation as a part of New Agenda and talk with care and clarity in same wave length to attract new generation who are looking forward to do something for the people of the Country. It needs a marketing strategy of high order involving proper people and making truthful and honest efforts at all levels.
Sir, these are my few free and frank views to boost the image of LCI and be a part of society at all levels. It should not be taken as criticism of any kind of any nature.
