Life does not run on rules, regulations and constitution but on disciplined and long run traditions of fellowship, love affection and determination for the welfare of family and society
Associations run on guide lines set by the rules and its Constitution. But more so a basic understanding among the members to act in the interest of association and members in general is desired. Interpretations of rules should be in the interest of Associations and not individual. If not so you dug your own grave.
ASI in its 75 yrs mostly run on personal good will, respect to others, honouring views and conscientious decisions. Our strength is unity of purpose in diversity. This laid to a solid foundation to a vibrant Organization.
Differences can be sorted out by talks and not legal litigations as seen recently. It helps no one but third party and Lawyers. Agony to all concerned. It is clash of EGOS and nothing else but game of disgruntled individuals. Riding on high wave we forget this and act like an Almighty to destroy the Institution.
ASI has taken a fast track start up, benefiting Surgeons in this Asian region of SAARC and ASEAN countries. We have taken a lead and world is looking towards us as emerging champion in Surgery. High Skill centers foundation is already laid down and needs careful planning. Can we achieve in the present scenario? PG teachings and Young Surgeons workshops will feel its punch.
I have been associated very closely with ASI in various capacities for more than 25 years, but never seen such a crisis of individual whims to hijack the Association.
Dr. Suresh Vashistha our Present President is a God fearing main and very religious in his belief and actions. He is a leader of quality and zeal to take ASI to a newer height. He has been very close to me and I love him and respect his views. Following a meeting with Myself, Dr Suresh Vashistha and Dr. Shiva K. Misra a compromise formula drafted and agreed upon. I wanted it to make it in writing but Dr. Vashistha insisted that TRUST and FAITH in GOD is much more then these papers. I believed it. Later in the GB on 19th December 2015 He defied truth and acted hysterically in derogatory way. I was dumped, flabbergasted and still shocked. Dr. Vashistha was in agony for few months with his own reasons and probably that played in his mind for such action. What may be the case, time is not to play blame game but take a course of forget and forgiveness in the best interest of the Association.
Dr. Santosh J. Abraham and Dr. Suresh Vashistha worked very closely for more than 5 years in all circumstances. Some misunderstandings only kept them apart now. Dr. Santosh is a dedicated very hard working and caring for ASI in all matters. His integrity and devotion cannot be doubted any time. He always means good for the Association. Dr. Shiva K Misra has worked as Honorary Secretary with last 3 Past Presidents and worked admirably well. He has shown his grittiness and methodical working to boost image of ASI. Dr. Suresh Vashistha has been his associate with very good understanding. There may be reasons of differences as happen in a family but no way to break down to the point of no return. I know all of them very well. They are good bunch of loyal and loving people. They are pure and care for each other. I have great faith in GOD and particularly in all of them. Let time pass, the truth will prevail to bring everyone together to give peace and happiness in ASI.
I request all of you to act positively to solve the issue and strengthen ASI. No comments without facts and understanding the total situation maligning anyone.
